Welcome to Wishlist After Dark! I'm Penny, and with me are the most sequined fox in retail, Marty Dazzle, and Sunny, who's already hugged everyone on the crew. Thanks, Penny! Folks, say hello to Spike the Fine Motor Hedgehog from Learning Resources, the perfect gift for toddlers eighteen months and up who love to poke, pull and sort! Hi, everyone! Marty, look at him. He's so chunky, and those quills come in every color!

That's the whole game, Sunny. Little hands push the quills into Spike's back, then pull 'em right back out. Again and again! And it's sneaky learning. The maker says it builds hand strength, pincer grasp and hand-eye coordination. Pincer grasp? That tiny thumb-and-finger pinch. Hold on. A toy and a workout for tiny fingers? Sunny, I'm sold! Picture it, Marty. The paper comes off and a toddler grabs a quill right away.

And no batteries needed! But wait, there's more! Fourteen pieces in the box, Spike and his quills. And there's a whole Spike family: a Tissue Pal, a Rainbow Stacker, even bath toys! Penny, I see that eyebrow going up. Hit me with the catch. Here's what buyers flag. Age recommendations differ between Spike listings, so check the exact set before you buy. Ooh, handy tip. So who should skip it, Penny?

Older kids who've outgrown poke and pull. Buyers say it's a simple toy that suits the younger end of the toddler range best. And no, we didn't check its star rating today. Simple's what an eighteen-month-old wants, though! It's a long-running Learning Resources favorite. I'm at eight point one! I say seven point eight. Those little pinches add up, and it's just so cheerful! I'm at seven point two for the narrow age window.

That makes an After Dark Score of seven point seven out of ten, just outside the top eight on our toys board. A buy for young toddlers. Get Spike under the tree for your favorite little poker! The link's on our site and in the description. See you next time, folks!
